Good to know about Darmstadt
- Electric provider. The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission's electric service territory map places Darmstadt in Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana's territory (now CenterPoint Energy). Source
- Town sewer utility. The Town of Darmstadt runs its own wastewater (sewer) utility. The State Board of Accounts audit for 2019-2022 lists a Wastewater Utility-Operating fund and about $3.09 million in wastewater-sewer capital assets. Source
- Sewage goes to Evansville. In 2012, Darmstadt officials told 14 News the town owns and maintains its own sewer system and sends its wastewater on to Evansville, and that Evansville Water and Sewer billed the town at the standard outside-city rate. Source
- Water utility (check by address). EPA's community water system boundary map places Darmstadt inside Evansville Water Utility's mapped service area, overlapping a modeled German Township Water District boundary. - Zoning and location permits. The Area Plan Commission handles land use planning for the Town of Darmstadt as well as Evansville and Vanderburgh County, including zoning decisions and Improvement Location Permits for new homes, additions, accessory buildings and pools. Source
- April 2025 tornado. On April 2, 2025, an EF2 tornado (estimated peak wind 125 mph, 10.97-mile path) moved from eastern Posey County through the St. Joseph area and just west of Darmstadt, ending about 1 mile north of town. Numerous homes had roof or siding damage and dozens of trees were snapped or uprooted. Source
